In this series of abstract works, I focus on the perceptual optics itself, marked by the effect of metamodern oscillation. Here I express the idea of a world that appears to us as a contradictory entity in which everything is in motion, in potential transformation. In which everything is about to change.
Turning to the language of abstraction, I found myself in need of moving away from object-based, narrative figuration and exploring the possibilities of visualising intangible subjects such as meanings, senses, the very flow of being. The abstract visual form is the only way to convey this kind of narrative unconditionally. However, inheriting the traditions of Symbolism and Expressionism, in this series I revisit the symbolic meanings of colour, endowing the compositions with intertext character, which can be read and revealed, deciphered. Visualising qualia, a perception without a referent, I use opposite, contrasting colours that reflect the impermanence of human feelings. I empower the symbolic code with an emotional optics. Expression, the denial of detailing the image gives the process of working with painting the necessary pace, the ability to convey the subtle hues of transitions from one impression to another.
