Project "Fried Eggs"

The main idea of this project is a problem that many of us do not notice — dependence on social networks. Unlike, for example, gambling addiction, the topic of this addiction is not covered in schools and is rarely touched upon in the media.

In this series of works, I explore the symbolic background of contemporaneity. At first glance, it is an ode to consumerism and everyday life. However, I invest the textural dimension of the visual image in a critical sense.

Contemporary visual culture is largely made up of content that is streamed from everyday life into social media. Undoubtedly, this has its charm. However, the flip side of this phenomenon is marked by the stain of heavy scrolling addiction and deliberately aestheticized self-representation. In the notorious food posting I see the clearest expression of this addiction.

Hidden behind the aestheticized visual image of criticism, the sheer lack of visibility of the problem is a direct reference to reality, to the practices of masking social media addiction problems. In this hidden form, I seek to emphasize not only the existence of the problem, but also its low visibility in the discourse field.
